How Clearlla Handles Your Data: A Plain-Language Privacy Walkthrough
What happens to a link after you paste it, what stays in your browser, what Google Analytics measures, and what Clearlla never collects.
The short answer
Clearlla does not need an account, does not store the links you paste, and does not save the media you download on its servers. Your download history stays in your own browser. Clearlla uses Google Analytics to measure page visits, and Google Analytics may use cookies to do that. Pasted links and media URLs are not sent to it.
What happens when you paste a link
- Your browser recognises which platform the link belongs to.
- The link is sent to Clearlla's server, which asks that platform's public interface for the post's media details.
- The server returns the available files to your browser, and the link is not written to a database or log.
- When you press Download, your browser fetches the file from the platform's own servers.
What stays in your browser
The recent downloads list and the small usage summary built from it are stored in your browser's local storage. They are calculated on your device and never uploaded. Clearing your browser data removes them.
What the server counts
To keep the status page honest, the server keeps aggregate counters per platform: how many requests ran, how many succeeded, how long they took, and broad failure categories. These counters contain no URLs, no IP addresses, and no identifiers. They exist only in memory.
What Google Analytics measures
Google Analytics runs only on clearlla.com. It records which pages are visited, without the query string or anything after a #, along with the general information Google Analytics collects about visits. It may set cookies in your browser for this measurement.
Clearlla does not send pasted downloader links, media URLs, or any personal details to Google Analytics as custom data.
What Clearlla never asks for
- An account or email address
- Your login for TikTok, Reddit, or any other platform
- A browser extension or app install
- Payment details
Why Clearlla is built this way
Clearlla is built to be a trusted choice for saving public media from supported platforms. It clearly identifies what is supported, explains limitations instead of hiding them, does not require an account, and is designed around responsible and regulation-conscious downloading.
Collecting less is the simplest way to keep that promise. Data that is never stored cannot leak, be sold, or be misused. Combined with public status labels and a policy of only processing public content, the aim is a tool you can check rather than one you have to take on faith.
