Mastodon Downloader
Save images, video, GIFs, and audio from public Mastodon posts on any instance in the fediverse. No account, no key, no scraping.
Mastodon is not one website, it is thousands of independent servers running the same software. Clearlla reads each post through that server's own public API, which is the same endpoint the web client uses before you log in, so the extractor works the same on mastodon.social as it does on a two-person instance nobody has heard of.
Attachments come back at their original upload resolution. Posts with several images unpack into individual downloads, and native video posts return a plain MP4 rather than a stream you have to reassemble.

Extraction, metadata, queue, and error handling are all tested against representative public URLs. Check live platform status.
Known limitations
- Only public posts. Followers-only, direct, and unlisted-restricted posts return an error because the instance won't serve them anonymously.
- A small number of instances run in authorized-fetch mode and refuse anonymous API reads. Those links can't be processed.
- Boosted posts should be opened on the original instance first, since the boost itself carries no media.
- Public content only. Private, follower-only, and login-walled posts cannot be read.
- Deleted or removed media cannot be recovered, even if the link still exists.
- Age-restricted and region-locked posts may fail if the source blocks anonymous access.
- Downloaded media belongs to its creator. Check platform terms and copyright before reusing it.
