What Does “Supported Platform” Mean on Clearlla?

Supported means Clearlla handles that platform's main public content reliably. Limited means it works for a narrower set of content. In Development means downloads are switched off. Here is the detail.

The short answer

On Clearlla, a supported platform is one where pasting a public link reliably returns the media you would expect from that platform. Every platform carries one of three labels: Supported, Limited, or In Development. The label is shown on the home page, on each platform page, and on the status page, and it comes from the same registry that switches the downloader on or off.

Supported

Supported means the platform's main public content works and has been tested. Current Supported platforms are TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest, Streamable, Twitch, and Mastodon.

Supported does not mean every possible post works. A Supported platform still cannot download deleted or private posts, and the media you get depends on what the platform serves. Reddit, for example, provides video and sound as separate files.

Limited

Limited means downloads work for a defined, narrower set of public content, or rely on a route that is more likely to change. The platform page always says what is covered.

  • Bluesky: image posts only. Video posts are not downloadable.
  • Telegram: public channel posts only.
  • Discord: attachment links only, which expire after a while.
  • YouTube: thumbnails only. No video or audio downloads.
  • X: public posts with images, video, or GIFs. Protected accounts are not included.
  • Facebook: public Facebook Page videos only. Reels, profiles, groups, and photos are not included.

In Development

In Development means work has started but downloads are switched off, because Clearlla cannot yet deliver a usable file reliably. Vimeo and Dailymotion are In Development: both mostly serve video as streaming segments rather than a single downloadable file. Instagram is also not available, because its media is not reliably reachable without signing in.

Showing these platforms with an honest label is better than offering a button that fails.

Why support still varies within a platform

  • Content type: a platform may be covered for videos but not Reels, or images but not video.
  • Public or private: only public posts can be fetched.
  • Media type: some media exists only as a stream, not a file.
  • Platform restrictions: logins, regions, and age checks block access.
  • Temporary upstream changes: a platform can change its public interface at any time.

How labels change

A platform moves to Limited or Supported only after its route has been built and tested against real public posts. If a route stops working reliably, the label can move back. The status page shows current health for each platform.

Why not every platform is supported

Clearlla only uses public routes, never logins, cookies, or paid access, and never tries to get around protections. Some platforms do not offer a public route to their media, and some offer one that is too unreliable to recommend. Rather than claim support it cannot deliver, Clearlla labels those platforms honestly.
