Why a Download Fails, and What Actually Fixes It

The five causes

• The post is private, restricted, or age-gated. Nothing can read it without an account, and Clearlla never asks for one.
• The media was deleted between your copy and your paste. Common with clips that get taken down quickly.
• The link is not a post link. Profile pages, search results, and app share sheets sometimes give you a URL with no media behind it.
• The platform blocks the request in your region. Rare, but it happens with certain video hosts.
• The platform changed something upstream. This is the one on us, and it shows up on the status page within minutes.

Telling them apart

Open the link in a private browsing window while logged out. If you cannot see the media there, no downloader can, and the cause is the first item above.

If it loads fine logged out but still fails here, check the status page. A platform showing a dip in success rate means the problem is upstream, not with your link.

Platform-specific gotchas

• Reddit: crossposts resolve to the original post, but a link to a comment will not.
• TikTok: shortened links work, but only if the whole code is copied.
• Twitch: the file URL is signed and expires, so download from the results panel rather than saving the direct link.
• Bluesky: video posts return a clear not-supported message rather than failing silently.
