Vimeo and Dailymotion: Current Status on Clearlla
Vimeo and Dailymotion downloading is not available on Clearlla right now. Here is why, and what is in scope once support returns.
Why downloading is switched off
Clearlla saved Vimeo and Dailymotion videos from the single MP4 files each player used to publish. Vimeo has stopped publishing those files for public videos, and Dailymotion now hands out a streaming playlist instead. Both are made of short video pieces rather than one file you can open.
Clearlla does not yet support joining those pieces into a single video, and it will not label a playlist as a finished download. Both downloaders are marked In Development until that work is done.
Videos that will stay out of scope
- Password-protected Vimeo videos.
- Videos restricted to a specific domain or to logged-in members.
- Private links shared with a review team rather than published publicly.
