How to Download Reddit Videos With Sound
Reddit stores video and audio as two separate files. Here is why your saved clip is silent and how to get a merged copy.
Why Reddit videos come out silent
Reddit hosts v.redd.it clips as two files: one MP4 with picture and no sound, one with sound and no picture. The player stitches them together live. Right-click and save the video and you get the silent half.
Clearlla fetches both streams and returns a single file with the audio in place, so there is nothing to line up yourself.
The steps
- Open the Reddit post.
- Tap Share, then Copy link.
- Paste it into the Clearlla Reddit downloader.
- Download the merged MP4.
GIFs, galleries, and crossposts
Reddit GIFs are not really GIFs, they are short muted MP4s, and that is what you will get back. Gallery posts expose each image on its own, and crossposts resolve to the original submission before extraction.
